Westminster Schools Cuts

The West End Labour Action Team has launched a petition calling on Westminster City Council to to urge the Government to scrap its school funding proposals which will lead to all three schools in the West End losing out.
According to the School Cuts website, All Souls Primary School will lose £117,000, equivalent to £661 per pupil, and will lose 3 teachers; St George’s Primary School will lose £112,000, equivalent to £559 per pupil, and will lose 3 teachers; and Soho Parish School will lose £97,000, equivalent to £615 per pupil, and will lose 2 teachers.
In addition, we have also started a petition about cuts to the five schools serving families in Vincent Square Ward: Millbank Academy (losing £72,000); Burdett Coutts School (£81,000); Grey Coat Hospital School (£630,000); St Vincent de Paul School (£90,000) and St Matthews School (£113,000)
“It is astonishing that the Tories are actually cutting money from our primary schools,” says Pancho Lewis of the West End Labour Action Team. “We’re talking about our children’s future here: surely primary schools are not something the Tories should be playing political games with. They should have nothing to do with their ideological austerity agenda. There’s a simple solution to this: the Government should invest in, not cut, education.”
